Certified Nurse Assistant

The main role of a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) is to provide basic care to patients and assist them in daily activities that include bathing, dressing, feeding and taking vital signs. The role of a CNA is not glamorous but is extremely essential in long term care. Compassionate individuals with a deep desire to care for others are needed to fill these positions.

Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) has the same requirements as a CNA except they are licensed by the State of Arizona and have met the finger print requirements for the state.

Education & Experience:
A CNA must complete a state approved nursing assistant training program, pass the nursing assistant state competency and obtain an original CNA certificate in the State of Arizona. The training program must be approved by the Arizona State Board of Nursing. A nursing assistant training program consists of a minimum of 40 hours of classroom instruction, a minimum of 20 hours of skills training, a minimum of 20 hours in a laboratory setting and a minimum of 40 hours of clinical training. The training program must be approved by the Arizona State Board of Nursing.

Assisted Living Caregiver

The main role of an Assisted Living Caregiver employed by an assisted living community is to assist residents with daily activities that include bathing, dressing, feeding, taking vital signs. Assisted Living Care givers also assisted with basic housekeeping to maintain the residents environment. Compassionate individuals with a deep desire to care for others are needed to fill these positions.

Education & Experience:
An Assisted living caregiver must be 18 years of age or older, must successfully complete a 62 hour caregiver training program, which includes 50 hours of classroom instruction, and 12 hours of instructor-supervised skills training. The training program must be approved by the Department of Board of Examiners for Nursing Care Institution Administrators and Assisted Living Facility Managers

Certified Medication Assistant

A certified medication assistant (CMA) is a certified nurse assistant (CNA) who has worked for a minimum of six months as a CNA and has no complaints/restrictions on the CNA, completed a medication training program and passed an Arizona written and skills test.

Education & Experience:
A CMA must be certified and employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant for a minimum of six months prior to beginning the medication assistant program, have no outstanding complaints or restrictions on their nursing assistant certification, be at least 18years of age with a high school diploma or GED issued in the USA. The CMA training program consists of a minimum of 100 hours of training to include 45 hours of diabetic study. The program shall provide 15 hours of skills lab experience, and a minimum of 40 hours of clinical practice utilizing the guidelines of progressive clinical practice and principles of supervision as detailed below The training program must be approved by the Arizona State Board of Nursing. A CMA must pass a competency evaluation program consisting of a written test and skills training test.
